Judy Hong
Judy Hong was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea before moving with her family to Queens, NY at the age of 12. She struggled during her first year in America and would practice saying, “I don’t speak English” to avoid conversations.
In this Remote Edition of Legacy Project, Judy Hong sits down with her daughter, Erin, and shares her journey as a working Korean American woman. From being an aspiring journalist to working in finance and eventually becoming head of investor relations at a cannabis company, Ms. Hong opens up about the difficulties she faced being a woman of color in professional fields dominated by white men and how the lack of role models impacted her. She urges her daughters to have the courage to take risks, and to never give up no matter what obstacles come their way.
