Peter Han
Born in 1968 in Gimpo, South Korea, Peter Han recalls his mother bringing home food, ingredients, and even leftovers from her job to provide for the family. At ten years old, Peter’s father becomes sick and passes away. Two years later, his mother remarries a white American man she met at the military base she worked at and soon moves everyone to the US.
As a 1.5 generation Korean American, Peter shares how he has had moments throughout his life reminding him that he’s neither Korean enough nor American enough. But to Peter, understanding both languages and cultures has proven beneficial now that he is living in Korea. Peter hopes people will live their life on their terms without worrying about the labels given to them because at the end of the day, we are all just human beings.
