Julie takes rapper Rekstizzy and her cousin August to Mokbar (먹바)—a hot spot for modern Korean cuisine located in New York’s Chelsea Market—where they meet chef and owner Esther Choi. In true Korean fashion, they serve each other shots of soju and chow down on some of Mokbar’s signature dishes as Esther talks about her grandma, whose recipe she uses for the appetizer “halmoni dumplings”, her decision to cook rather than stay in pharmacy school, and food as a form of expression and connection to a culture.
