Korean American Story’s Internship Program
Dedicated to capturing, creating, preserving, and sharing stories of the Korean American experience, KAS produces original multimedia content including short films, documentaries, podcasts, and more.
Having an internship at KAS means joining a non-profit work culture of unique perspectives, all working towards the same goal– to preserve and share the stories of the Korean American experience.
As a participant in the KAS internship program, you will have the opportunity to explore passion projects and develop new skills through mentors and real work experience. While there are defined roles, these can be adjusted to align with your career goals and passions. We are committed to an ongoing internship program that allows room for growth and change. You will gain insight into how a non-profit operates and acquire invaluable work experience that can have a high impact on people’s lives.

All interns must be part-time, 10-20 hours per week until discussed end-term date

This is an unpaid internship, college credit is available. This is a volunteer position for Korean American Story.

Digital Marketing Intern
Position Description
Do you have a passion for social media or digital marketing? Do you love keeping up with online news and cultural trends? Then this role is for you. You will work closely with our social media team member to manage KAS’ external communications which includes all of our social media platforms, newsletters, and anything public facing. You thoroughly understand social media and know how to make content come to life and be presented on a digital platform.
Responsibilities
Manage social media accounts, including caption ideation, publishing, troubleshooting, and community engagement
Pitch and create content for social media channels including writing copy and capturing photo & video content using a smartphone
Track digital marketing KPIs and metrics to measure business performance
Communicate effectively with team members
Develop written communications to address varied social media platforms and information needs
Complete a semester-long Internship Project

Must be up-to-date on Korean American culture and news
Good understanding of all major social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.
Events Production Intern
Position Description
Do you have a passion for event production? Do you love IRL community building? Then this role is for you. You will work closely with our events production team member to manage KAS’ events which include ROAR Story Slam, Writers Block, and the annual Gala.
Responsibilities
Assist with research site locations, vendors, and services for events
Assist with resource management for graphic designers, illustrators, photographers, videographers, organizations, partnerships, and volunteers management
Assist with sourcing gifting items
Assist with event-related administrative tasks
Guestlist and event document maintenance (for local, special, and field events)
Assist with any event production needs on the day of an event
Occasionally running errands
Complete a semester-long Internship Project

Someone with a genuine interest in PR and events
Must be up-to-date on Korean American culture and news
NY candidates preferred or in close proximity to the city for possible hands-on help for some events
Education & History Intern
Position Description
Do you have a passion for history and storytelling? Do you love learning about the past, and perhaps rewriting the past? Then this role is for you. You will work closely with our social media team member and founder to manage KAS’ original content.
Responsibilities
Explore Korean American cultural content and brainstorm new ways to memorialize historical moments
Manage KAS’ Legacy Project by archiving, reviewing transcripts, edits, and adding Meta Data for the archive for USC
Spearhead research on Korean American culture in regional areas of the US such as ATL, Houston, SF, etc.; discover historical places that focus on KA history
Help collaborate with academics and historians to produce historical content for KAS, examples include a potential historian/academic takeover
Manage Legacy Project Blurbs & additional copywriting
Complete a semester-long Internship Project
