Han Shik Park – Part 1
Han Shik Park is no stranger to war. Born near what is now Harbin amidst Chinese civil unrest, Park eventually moved to South Korea after the surrender of the Japanese, but once his family reached the country, the Korean War broke out. These encounters with death and destruction were what inspired him to immigrate to the United States and study—all to figure out why people fight and kill. Now a recently retired professor of political science at the University of Georgia and the founding director of its Center for the Study of Global Issues (GLOBIS), Park is dedicating the rest of his life to reunify the two Koreas—something he longs to see happen in his lifetime.
