Hyepin Im, an MBA student in 1992, recalls how the media falsely portrayed Korean Americans as the main aggressors during the LA riots, despite the 400 million dollars in property damage to Korean-owned businesses. The injustices inspired Hyepin to advocate for more political and economic empowerment of the Korean American community.

She is the founder and president of Korean Churches for Community Development (KCCD). She hopes that SaIGu, a painful moment in history, will be redeemed as a catalyst to unite communities to achieve the American Dream together.
