About

“I remember getting a phone call from my dad saying, ‘Min died.'”

John Hong came to America with his family when he was just 2 years old and grew up in Chicago where his parents worked long hours to make a life in the new country. Describing his childhood as going from “one extreme to the next,” John reminisces on the Korean church as being the one place he felt like he could belong. Reflecting back on his life, he shares an intimate memory of his uncle and cousin that ended up majorly impacting his childhood and ultimate understanding of God.
